FAQs

Got questions about heat pumps, rebates, or installation? You’re not alone — we’ve answered some of the most common questions our customers ask about choosing, installing, and running a heat pump system in Melbourne. From turnaround times and noise levels to rebates and sizing, you’ll find everything you need to make an informed choice below.

  • For most installations, we can complete the job within a week of confirmation. If your installation involves a Solar Victoria rebate, we’ll need to wait for your application to be approved before proceeding, but once finalized, the same quick turnaround applies.

  • Each rebate covers a different aspect of your installation, and most customers qualify for multiple programs. The STC rebate applies to everyone and is based on the type of heat pump you’re installing. The VEEC rebate depends on your existing hot water system, and recent updates mean nearly all systems are now eligible. Finally, the Solar Victoria rebate is income-based and requires you to apply directly with supporting legal documents. For more details, visit our rebates page

  • We handle the removal of your existing HWS. It’s actually an essential step of the VEECs process for us to safely decommission and dispose of your existing unit! We recycle your old hot water services through a local partner of ours. We can also take care of asbestos removal related to the installation, as it was commonplace for old internal units to contain asbestos flue pipes.

  • Not really! The industry standard noise level is around the 45-55 (dB) mark, that being said, some systems go as low as 37 (dB) if noise is a crucial factor for you. In addition, most heat pumps operate solely during the day when we set up the timer, so they generally get washed out by any other sound during the day.

  • We have a core list of products that we stand by and recommend, this includes the likes of Aquatech, iStore, Reclaim, Sanden + more. We install a wide variety of different products to service the whole market. That being said, if you want a specific brand not already mentioned, we can still install it!

  • It depends on your existing setup and what system you’re looking for. Most systems can just plug into a standard 10A power point connected to a local circuit. Some need to be on an isolator, or even on their own circuit. We can do your electrical works, whatever your specific needs may be.

  • In general, we recommend that households with 1-2 bedrooms opt for 150-225L tanks, 3-4 bedrooms ~270L, and 5+ will require 300L+. This is of course dependent on how many hot water users in the house, number of children, and your hot water usage habits.

  • We service all of metro Melbourne, Geelong, and some regional & Peninsula areas. Reach out and we’ll let you know if we can service your area!

  • For the majority of installations, we only need 3-4 hours. In cases where we are relocating or doing additional plumbing works, the install may take up to the whole day.

  • Yes! While being less-efficient in the depths of winter, we always try to recommend heat pumps suitable for whatever Melbourne’s weather will throw at it.

  • We always recommend setting the heat pump timer to operate during the day when it’s most efficient. This differs to your old gas system which will chugg away 24/7.

  • This ensures maximum efficiency by drawing heat from the air when it’s warmest & will also maximise solar gain if you have solar panels. The system then switches off overnight, when it’s cooler & you’ll have enough hot water for your household demands, until the timer switches on again in the morning.
