Most, if not all, vitreous enamel (glass-lined) water storage tanks contain an anode, typically a “sacrificial anode.” An anode is a component inside the tank that helps prevent corrosion and rust. Most heat pumps (e.g., iStore and Rheem) use a sacrificial magnesium anode that generally needs to be replaced by a professional plumber approximately every 5 years. This anode replacement is typically the only professional maintenance required on a heat pump system.

Aquatech, however, uses a non-sacrificial anode that operates via impressed current technology, preventing the anode itself from degrading over time. The unit also includes a backup magnesium anode for added protection. Because of this, Aquatech units do not require routine professional maintenance, effectively making them a “set and forget” solution.

But with most variable factors considered, 90% of our installs can be completed within four hours.
